Philipp is an actor and filmmaker who splits his time between his birth city Vienna and Los Angeles. At 19, after graduating from a Culinary Institute in Vienna, he moved to New York City to study acting. During the next six years, he appeared in several Off-Broadway plays and TV shows.
After 6 years in NYC, he moved to Los Angeles where he appeared in various TV Shows (“Castle”, “Will & Grace”, “CSI Miami”, “Without a Trace”, “Melissa & Joey” and more…) and played lead roles in films such as “Kiss The Bride”, “The Price of Happiness”, “The Morning After” and “Search Engines”. For “Search Engines” Philipp won the Best Actor award at the Borderlands Film Festival and the Sutter Creek International Film Festival.
Philipp then produced and co-wrote the film Diving Normal, which was adapted from the play of the same name by playwright Ashlin Halfnight. Diving Normal was filmed in the summer of 2012 in New York City. The film was directed by Kristjan Thor and has since been released on iTunes and various other platforms. Philipp’s directorial debut, Like You Mean It, was filmed in Los Angeles in the spring of 2014. The film had its World Premiere at Outfest Los Angeles in July of 2015. Like You Mean It is available on Netflix USA as well as iTunes and Amazon in the United States and Europe.
Philipp plays CIA agent “Jack Almond” in the upcoming German/Swedish TV Series “West of Liberty” which will air in the UK, Germany and Sweden later this year.
